Effect of Vinblastine Sulfate on the Renal Function of Rabbits

Abstract
This study was to investigate the effect of vinblastine sulfate(VLB) on the renal function of the rabbits. VLB was administered intravenously in a single dose of 0. 2 mg/kg and 0. 3mg/kg, and in chronic. doses.
The results were summarized as follows:
1. Urine volume, renal plasma flow and glomerular filtration rate were decreased, respectively, and its decremental ratio was proportion to the dose administered.
2. The absorptive ratio of sodium was markedly increased in comparison to that of potassium.
3. The osmolar clearance and negative free water clearance were decreased, respectively.
From the above results, it was suggested that the effect of VLB on the renal function of the rabbits may by caused the changes of renal hemodynamics, the secretion of aldosterone and antidiuretic hormone.
